hard time accelerating past 45mph....
i've recently changed the oil pressure sending unit for my low oil pressure problem. Now i have a hard time accelerating from the second i have it in gear, and basically wont go past 45mph. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thats the one on the back of the motor correct? (behind the intake, by the firewall). Is there a chance you knocked something else loose? Crank Position Sensor or the Distributor (fuel sync)???
Will it rev up if the truck is in park?

Well.. it was doing that before i changed it but not as bad, it seems like it doesn't want to 'downshift' and around 45mph it won't go any further and the rpm gauge just bounces around. While idling in park i've noticed it does a little higher past 1000 rpms also.
So now that you know that CEL means Check Engine Light , is it on all the time or not? Could be many things but I would check for bad vaccum lines and clogged cat first. Of course not knowing if you have tried doing a tuneup IE. pcv valve , air cleaner, plugs ,plug wires, cap and rotor,etc... You could very well have a tranny prob. But I would eliminate the cheaper alternatives first. And last but not least the plenum gasket. Which in time will f up the most of the other things mentioned.

Did you route the new wires exactly the same as the old ones? If some wires are crossed where they are not supposed to be, or plugged into the distributor cap in the wrong order, that could create problems.
When I broke a wire on my Dakota (318, 5.2L V8), it could barely maintain 65 mph, and was extremely slow and getting up to that speed.
