Default Ram V10 cats

Howdy. Quick question. Can i remove or hog out my catalytic converters without getting a check engine
light. There is no emmission laws in wyoming. Truck is a '98 Ram 2500 V10. Since having an edelbrock
muffler installed last fall, my cats are rattleing like crazy.

I bought my truck without cats and there was no codes. I needed to put the cats on due to emmision standards and I found no significate difference. I put on duel high flow cats and the only difference was that it was a bit quieter. No change in milage or hp. I still have a stock exhust system otherwise.

Not that I'm saying to do this as taking the cats off is illegal in most if not all places however I will just say that you can buy o2 simms for the very purpose of keeping the check engine light off when you install a high flow or gutted cat or remove yours. I'd recommend just putting a highflow cat on there though instead of taking yours off.

Thanks for the reply. I will probably just put high flow cats on it if i can
find a pair that dont break the bank. What do you mean by an 02 simm
for the high flow cats, hometheaterman? The only cats i can find that
are reasonably priced are from summit racing, but they are only rated
up to a 460 engine. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.
