larger fuel injectors
this is a question for all you guys out there running 24 lb fuel injectors. i just installed my supercharger and the engine is pinging like crazy. i know that i need 24 lb injectors, but which ones will fit my truck? i am looking to get some used ones off ebay.
i don't think i have a plenum leak, but i will check to make sure. i don't have the injectors because i wanted to know which ones would fit before i bought them. i already installed a high flow fuel pump and an fuel regulation unit. my truck is a 1998.
First off welcome to the supercharged Dodge Ram club
I see you are running a superchips. I also am going to guess you are running a platinum or some form of upgraded plug. Before you worry about injectors did you try removing the program. A lot of these supercharger will not work with a handheld programmer. The manufacturersalso suggest that you go with a stock plug. Is it doing this all the time or just under boost? You may have a timing issue not a fuel issue. If you have a scanner you need to watchfor proper advance while giving it pedal.I am measuring 48 lbs of fuel at idle, using stock injectors and do not have problems with (the lack of)fuel. How is your charger compensating for fuel under boost? I understand you have a high flow but what is controlling it?

Timing & a/f ratio are critical when running boost.
Is that hi flow pump intank or inline with new regulator controlling it? (boost referenced from intake manifold)
Without an intercooler or meth/water injection the stock computer will cause ping during boost. With a programmer/chip added it will be even worse. Ping can & will destroy stock headgaskets pretty fast.MSD BTM (boost timing management)or one of the MSD boxes with thebtm built in will be needed.
As GM mentions platinum plugs are a no no with boost. High heat/pressure they tend to flake off the platinum coating. Most of us running boostgo with plugs one (or 2)ranges colder like the 3923 copperautolites (or equivilant) to help with ping. Even with an upgraded igntion (wires/coil/box) you dont want the plug gaps larger than .035. Pressurized charge doesnt burn as well and the stronger/shorter spark helps. Best to index the plugs also so the gap openings facebetween in/exh valves. Alum heads, 180* stats and higher grade fuelalso helpreduce ping.
You can run stock injectors on a stock motor with boost but must increase fuel pressure as boostincreases if you dont have a stand alone or custom flash/tuner(hypertech/superchips are programmers/not true tuners). FMU & inline pump are needed.
I use to run Ford Motorsport 24lb matched injectors with my old setup,52mm tb, m1/2bbl, rt+10cam & 1.7rr. With DFMU and inline pump (D-1SC/3core a/a ic) the47psi stock fuel pressure ramped up by about 10psi for every 2psi of boost. At 7psi boost I was seeing 85+psi fuel pressure.
A/F, boost and fuel pressure gauges really essential in tuning if you dont have a scanner. A/F gauge should be hooked to a wide band o2 cause the stock narrowband are not accurate at WOT.

ok. so yesterday evening i added a bottle of octane booster to my fuel, which seemed to help a bit. it took away all the pinging except when at wot. i removed the superchip just a bit ago and drove the truck. voila! no pinging at all. now the only thing i feel is wrong is that there seems to be a lack of power. i mean, i know it's a big, heavy brick moving down the road and not some little ricer, but i thought the supercharger would do a bit more for my power. i can definitely feel a power increase, but it doesn't feel like anything more than maybe 40 hp and not much torque at all. any ideas?
