Default 2001 CTD A/C problems

Does anyone know of any common problems with the A/C system on the 2001 2500 with the CTD? It won't stay cold, and cant find any leaks on it with tester? Any suggestions might help. Thanks!

no common problems that I am aware of, the pressure switches would be one place to start, assuming it's holding freon correctly & at the right pressure.

There is one common problem, the evap core. That's why I asked what it was tested with.

+1 for Zman, I'll tell you for sure if you are losing refridgerant and can not find a leak its your evap. I put dye in mine and couldnt find anything and was certain enough that it was my evap that I just went ahead and removed it. Sure enough I had a fan box full of green dye! If it is your evap core it will most likely leak down within a couple of weeks of charging it. Even without dye leaks on your system are easily seen by the oily residue around the leaks. Check your condenser carefully as well. A rock or road debris can cause a leak, again its easy to spot. You will see a dark oily spot around the leak. I can tell you with a great degree of confidence that if you dont see a leak its your core. I posted a DIY with pics under my name titled evaporator replacement. Its certainly doable even for a mechanic with little experience. GOOD LUCK!

+1. I had that issue also. pull the blower motor cover, and see... i had a local shop do it, it was a hefty $700. If I didn't have a new born recently I would have had time to attempt the replacement.
