Default Replacing Cigarette Lighter

The black plastic that holds the cigarette housing in the dash broke. I unhooked the cigarette housing to the cable behind the ashtray. Now that I have a newplastic holder, how doI reattach the cable back to the cigarette housing? Do I need to remove the bottom dash or the cup holder to hook the cable into the housing? If so, I do I do so. I have a 2001 1500 Dodge Ram. Thanks

you can reach it by removing the cup holder. there are 4 or 5 screws holding on the cup holder. Must pull the black bezel that surrounds the instrument cluster.

Tilt the wheel down fully and shift into 1st gear, gently pry straight out around the edge of the bezel until it pops out. follow it around the outside and lift upward to remove.

you can also remove the cover plate under the steering wheel, but you need a #25 torx driver.
