2001 Ram 1500 4x4, won't shift into park, not the steering collum. What could it be? Mechanic thinks something could have broken and got lodge in place. Any ideas and how much everyone thinks a new tranny may cost. Thanks for your replies.

 

rebuilds can range from $1200-$2400 depending on the shop and parts used. You can buy a brand new HD tranny from A few places for that upper end cost.

Make sure you go to a known good shop, with a credible record and a warranty to back their work. I wouldn't go with anything less than 1year 30K miles.
