Default Rear axle assembly swap

2000 Dodge Ram 1500

Thinking about swapping for a newer assembly from newer dodge ram and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on how hard it would be or if it would be easy.

Just wondering : why do you need a new axle? I want 3/4 ton axles for my 1/2 ton, and would like 2001's or newer for the rear disc brakes... It should be pretty easy...

Hey Ram owners. New poster here. I too am looking to get rid of the crappy rear brakes on my '99 1500. I now tow a trailer and God help me if I ever have to make an emergency stop. I would prefer a rear end swap out but am considering the EBC conversion. Any and all input is appreciated.

You might try putting 2500 cylinders in the back. IIRC , the chevy ones bolt right up. Details on part #s and such I don't know , but I'm sure some one like vwanddodge will chime in.
