Default 4.56 gears

Okay, I own a 2001 dodge ram 1500. I'm wanting to put some 4.56 gears in it... I was wondering if it would help the transmission in anyway? Maybe easier on the transmission since its not working as hard to move the truck? If theres anything else I can do to help the transmission from going bad lemme know.

Re-gearing has a host of benefits including prolonging the life of your transmission. Most all articles written on the subject make mention of this.

Do you have bigger tires?

regearing regular tires makes the truck feel torquey, but the faster you go the more rpms you have to turn.
