Cool truck dies when i stop...Please help me

I have a 96 Ram 1500 with the 318 and a 5spd tranny. When i have the air conditioning on and come to a stop when i push in the clutch the truck dies. When i turn off the a/c the truck stops fine without dieing. Also when i start to go up hill or get on the throttle hard the a/c cuts out, then when i lay off the gas it comes back full. Please help me any info would be helpful. Thanks

without the a/c in the picture I'd tell you the IAC valve may need to be cleaned or replaced (sits on the back of the TB) I'd start by cleaning it anyway just to eliminate it being dirty. It could be that your compressor might be putting more of a load on the motor than in the past. I would get the ac system checked for pressure (make sure it's holding it), if it is then get it service and have them swap out the freon. There is an oil that is added to it to keep the compressor lubed IIRC.

welcome to df...

According to what I've read, the IAC is supposed to adjust idle speed when the A/C is on or off. Agree that you might have a compressor issue.

if the IAC is slow to respond it may also cause the same problem... that's why I suggested it be cleaned.
