it talks about the steering gear box (replace with one from a 2500) and talks about the steering wander. Also note how it talks about bad bearings, ball joints (something I haven't mentioned or experienced...yet), and the trac-bar. gee... so, maybe it wasn't just me with my personal experience, and the same as many others... its comon knowledge on that forum. read it... its short and they don't use big words.
Dodge rot is what its called around this area, since the roads are salted heavily and it seems to just rip through these trucks. Granted it happens to anything on the roads, but when I drove it to the bodyshop the manager used that term (fyi, it was a dodge dealership).
the Evap core is common, its like the plenum, if you haven't replaced it yet... you will at some point. maybe its the age of the truck that contributes to it.
honestly, I knew these trucks as any other were going to have issues, but WTF... enough was enough. it just happened all at once, you can't blame a guy for getting bitter and pissed... But I am still here... whether you like it or not, and I am considering getting another dodge ram. Currently the only thing wrong with the truck is my axle seal. other than that, its running great! taking it to maine this week (200 miles one way) and I know its going to do well. heck I replaced everything but the glove box handle, and it just boke. The trac-bar, joints, and bearings are common wear items. You can't label them "common problems". Any 4x4 will have them go bad eventually, just give it some time.
I don't mind you complaining about some of this stuff, its just the way you worded your post was that all these things happen to all Dodge Rams, and that none of it should happen. Thats simply not the case.

just go to that pavement sucks link... then read the posts below. seems rather common for them.
its rather common, and yes, I agree its a common wear and tear issue... but the key word is common.
I am glad you don't mind me complaining, thats so sweet of you.

I noticed you quoted me in your sig. Although, that comment wasn't directed at you, it was directed at Neon. I actually do feel sympathy for you when I read about everything that has gone wrong with your truck, because they don't sound like you caused them at all.
I just don't feel sympathy for those who do something against the advice of the most knowledgeable people on the forum, and then complain how it doesn't work out. Everyone can do what they want, and they have the right to complain, but we also have the right to shrug and say "I told you so."

the real pisser was the previous owner was a service manager at a dealer$hip. I ASSumed it to be in good shape. I test drove it and it seemed fine, and as you all too well know... $6000 later... thus my mission to inform new to ram folks.
I love this forum, 80% or more is about fixing broken stuff... it so far has all happen to me. with the exception of the plenum... murphy's law will take care of that for me.
So to get this straight I am coming to a dodge site and getting steered to keep my ford. Maybe this isnt such a good idea. Is there any good things that can be said for these trucks beside there styling. I mean the 94 Ram was motor trend truck of the year in 94.
well... maybe.
it all depends on how well your ford runs.
The 2nd gen styling back in 94 was a great refreshing look, and was very stylish. But compared to its big brother the 3rd gen... and soon the 4th gen... its rather outdated. I bought mine based on price and the 4dr quad cab for the kiddies.
now that I have the majority of the issues behind me, I like the truck. It drives decent for a truck with a solid front axle. I used to own a 95 F-150 with the 302, and this Ram certainly is more of a truck.
But in your case... just know that its an older truck that "might" have some big dollar issues, like ANY other truck.
I guess thats something you would just expect...
how about trading in your F-150 for a 09 RAM?
