Default Tire ? again

OK i was doing some figureing and i got that: D= diameter and W= width in Inches

265/70 "stock"= 30.6D and 10.4W
285/70=31.7D and 11.2W
295/70=32.25 and 11.6W
.....
.....
Ok well i know that 285/70 will fit with minimal rubbing "if any" my question is ,is it width or the Diameter or both that is causing it.....
"it=rubbing"
If im looking for more ground clearance "with stock supension" can i just go to a 285/75? Those are 32.8D which is more then the 295/70 but they retain the 11.2" width so will those still clear just the same as the 285/70.

P.S Note figures may be incorrect i cal. them useing my cal. not a chart "which probly would have been faster" so if my numbers look wrong please correct me. Also i am keeping the stock 16x7 alloys.
