ABS/Brake light sensor.
Can anybody tell me the exact location of the ABS speed sensor? I only know is mounted some place near the rear pumkin but I can not see it to replace it.

On my '96 Ram it's right on the very top of the pumpkin.
One bolt, (12mm I think). Get that out, grab it with a Vise-grip,
wiggle it out,.. Might need a screwdriver to help pry it up & out
as you wiggle it. Clean the hole the best you can with a rag before
setting the new one in place. Put a small amount of oil on the
O-Ring before you set the new one in. Advance-Auto has 'em for
about 24 bucks. One reason they fail is the metal-slurry created
over time from the gears thrown up and about in the rear-end.
The sensor is magnetic and trips both ABS & brake-lights on
your dash without throwing a Check-engine code. (It can also
mess with the Speedo reading right also).
My '99 Dakota has two different size fixed nuts on that one bolt
that holds the sensor in place. The 1st holds a small metal
shield and 2 brackets for a brake-line and the two-wire plug
that goes to the Speed-Sensor. Easy-fix,.. Good-luck!
