Default single din to double din dash

So I have been looking at getting an in dash dvd player for my truck for all to long, and from everything I find, the single din dvd flip outs are far more expensive than the double din, so I have been calculating, measuring, calculating, and remeasuring, and I think I have it figured out as to how I can make a custom double din dash mount on my dodge. I will have to expirement first meaning I will go down to a junkyard tear out that part of the dash of another 2nd gen and try and find a way to cleanly mount a double din into the dash. Hopefully I pull this off and dont just waste $50 at the junkyard, but its always fun to expirement, and if I pull it off it should be pretty cool and unique! Ill keep updates and post pictures if I actually pull it off.

I've seen one done around here not too long ago. the guy did it with fiberglass. It wiped out the a/c vents or the cup holder, can't remember which.

I have the manual transmission so I think if I go down instead of up I shouldn't run into any problems because I have the sepearate cupholders. I went and got the dash from a junkyard truck to test on, so we will see how this turns out!
