Unless it's the NV3500, in which case you need the special fluid. Can be gotten from Mopar or GM as they both used this trans in 1500 trucks.

 

Is there any plug to add fluid to the transfer case??????? Is not the same for the transmission fluid??? I mean, do I have to add fluid to the tranfer case via other filled cap than transmission cap? I'm very confuse about this. I replaced maybe three month ago my transmission kit(filter and oil), replaced the speed sensor too and just added transmission fluid. Nothing in tthe transfer case.................

 

the fluid in the transmission is completely separate from the t-case. transmission has a pan and dip stick. the t-case has a fill plug and a drain plug on the rear side.

 

It looks like I have been driving my truck without fluid in the t-case. Do you have any picures of the plugs? Is difficult to find it?

 

Today I bought the transmission fluid for the transfer case and when I went under the truck I did not find any plug in my tranfer case. My truck is 4x2. Is supose to has the filled and drain plugs too??

 

If your truck is NOT four wheel drive then you DO NOT have a transfer case.

 

I hope you havent changed your fluids yet. The 5spd in the 1500 ram is the NV3500, you need to go to the dealer and get the specific fluid for that transmission. Most all newer standards have paper lined rings that you can NOT use gear oil with.

If the dodge dealer wants to much, try the chevy dealer, its the same fluid. GM calls it synchromesh. Or check some of the better local parts stores. Some aftermarkets make the fluid (pennzoil, Amsoil).

ha,ha, is a good news not to have a t-case...because I have been running for a long time without fluid.
Ok, I have a leaking in the back side of the tranny (see the picture). Is there any seal ??
