Ive had a dodge cummins since 1993, and finally got one that is eating my lunch.
I bought my son a 96 4x4 1 1/2 cab
The solenoid was not working when I bought it, it would not kick ON all the time, probably 50% of the starts.
If you turn the key on and flipped the solenoid up by hand it would pull in and start up, then it would shut down fine.
I ordered a new solenoid and new relays, thinking Ill just go ahead and replace all while Im at it. The new one is doing the same thing, I have checked every wire, put a meter on the wires to the solenoid and am getting 12 volts. Batteries are good, at least they check good with a tester and spin the engine like hell.
I took the solenoid off the other day thinking maybe it has to have the internal ground and a frame ground and cleaned the bracket till it shined.
Started the truck fired right up solenoid worked fine.
3 days later we are back to the same situation.
Any ideas??
