Default need to retrieve codes....how?

Was wondering what pins to jump with a paperclip....I don't have a code scanner to read a dodge vehicle.

Iam throwing a check engine light.

Truck runs fine, as long as you don't get on it. Once you give it any real throttle it revs but hardly moves at all. Can hear a whistle noise from somewhere, can't pinpoint it though.

Need help in a hurry....outside right now working on it.

thanks
Jamie

You might be able to pull it this way but using a code reader is not a bad idea.

Autozone and other parts stores will pull the code for you for free.

And in the general tech forum you can look up the OBD II codes.

WHISTLE MAY BE A VACUUM LEAK. SPRAY CARB & CHOKE CLEANER ARROUND LINES WHEN VEHICLE IS COLD. IF THERE IS A LEAK, THE CLEANER WILL SUCK IN THE LEAK AND CHOKE OUT THE MOTOR. LOOK IN THAT AREA FOR A LOOSE, BROKEN, OS CRACKED LINE. REVS HIGH BUT HARDLY MOVES SOUNDS LIKE A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. KEEP US POSTED. & GOOD LUCK

yeah, start with a tune up if it's been a while. put in some NGK plugs and let us know what's happening with it... also might want to check the plug wires.
