This also an option

These spun metalic converters are supposed to be more durable and tolerate heat better than ceramic core converters.

At least that's the theory.

I have never used one.

They sure look pretty though...

I came out ahead compared to what most people are saying they spent. I bought mine from summit and had it put on locally. The shops seem to mark up the cats. Another reason I ordered mine is I couldn't find a local shop that carried them.

Yep, I was the one that sent you pictures HTM.

I went ahead and did the high flow cat and Super 44 muffler at the same time, all told it was around $400. I could have saved roughly $50 or a little more by ordering the cat and/or the muffler from Summit, but I figured the Meineke guys have been good to me in the past, so I spent the extra $$$. If you have it, I always like to put it back into a local business I know is good.

Online shopping is nice and all, and I love eBay, but if I can get the same product with the same quality local, especially from a place I trust, I will spend a little extra.

This is the part # of the cat installed on my truck. MPE-94009, 16" converter. But HTM is right, I don't think a 13" converter would hurt anything. That part is the MPE-94109.

They have been replaced, according to Summit, by the MPE-94009CA and MPE-94109CA (respectively) because the original two were not legal (for whatever reason) for use in California.

Eh that sucked having to spend money on buying another catalytic converter. I went ahead and bought the 13" magnaflow cat, and should be here next week. I just don't remember my truck humming so badly in the cab. It literally consumes the cab the entire time I drive, it's not even a cool drone lol. Those headers and big y-pipe really made that exhaust loud. My gutted cat is butted up to the y-pipe so I'm sure that's messing with flow and sound too. When I have the cat installed, I'm going to ask if he can slide the cat down just a little so it's not exactly butted up against the y-pipe. Hope it will deaden some interior drone. Otherwise I'll be at a loss. A 18" magnaflow muffler and cat lol, better do the trick.

If you have the 5.9L, the truck is rated to about 7100 lbs for a 4x4 quad cab. More if its a 2WD or a non-quad.

And for goodness sake, do not tow in OD. Turn it off when you tow.

That particular excavator weighed 5200 lbs,and the trailer weighed a little over a ton. And I must say, the truck did it effortlessly. It could easily tow more but it isn't something I'd do frequently. I towed it because my brothers one ton truck was down, but it's defiantly capable of helping out now and then if it's needed.

Isn't the stock converter around 13". I think I measured mine and it was around that.

I never measured mine, and they took it after they replaced it. I couldn't say.
