Thumbs down cat question

I have a 1997 ram 2500 with 5.9L. The other night my wife noticed that the floor on the pass side was really hot. I am thinking CAT, but it does not smell and there is no performance changes in the truck. It also does not have a rattle to it. What do you think? Also advanced auto says they can not get one for my truck. I do not have time to order from on line because I am moving in 2 weeks (915 miles).

I got mine pretty quickly from Summit. You can order from there and do overnight shipping and have it in a day or two. There are other places that will ship them overnight too. I think that is the route I'd go. Or call around to local Maganaflow dealers to see if any of them have one instock.

Padodgeram Yes I will be working a fig. Bought a house in Jonestown. Do you get the pipes that go to the manifolds or do you have to weld the new cat to the pipes or is it one piece?

PAdodgeram What do you think about the extreme heat coming through the floor on the pass side??? When I felt it I thought the carpet was going to catch on fire. I do have a cat back flow master supper 44 exhaust system. This would not have anything to do with it would it?I will be pulling a loaded trailer plus quad in bed from WI to PA. I don't want any problems or cook my motor on the way. How can I tell for sure if the CAT is plugged or not??? THANKS

ALL I will be an instructor at the GAP.

No idea on the cat but I used NTK o2 sensors. Well one on the front and I used a Fastman o2 simm in the rear but didn't really need to use that. I'd just go with the 2 NTK sensors if I was you. I thought my hi flow cat might set off a code but it didn't. At that time I had already ordered the o2 simm although it was back ordered and took a month or so to get I decided to just use it. I like it just fine.

NTK seems to be the oxygen sensor part of NGK which I like their products a lot. I got my o2 sensor from Summit but I'm sure other places have it too. I'd just order all you need and have it shipped overnight from them.

As for the cat I got mine welded in but isn't their a direct fit one you can buy?

This is a tuff call , no other problems but the high heat , which it mite be starting of a bad cat but its not giving any other clues , You mite want to take it to your trusted muffler shop and have them put a heat gun to it , or take it for a drive and see if the cat is glowing (cherry red) then i would just replace it ,

Just the heat thats the only problem for now. Unless it has been plugging up since I have had it. It had really low power then. I changed plenum gasket and it dot better. Even after that I have thought a 360 should have more power, but I have been chalking it up to the 33's I am going to take it for a ride.
