Ram Plowing Help
so i have some questions for you guys. i have a 98 ram 1500 club cab with 6.5 box and 5.9, and i wanted to know can u get plow prep package on a 1500 or not. and if i get a plow,"Boss sport duty poly 7' 6" " i want to put timbren suspension kit on it to help stiffen the suspension up cuz how much weight it will add. but should i add anything else ? or should i be fine as long as i take my time plowing and be easy on the truck? or should i get a bigger battery? tranny gauge, and a inline tranny cooler. Please let me know, cuz i want a good set up.
We always put the V10 4x4 front springs in if it was a V8 and if it was a V10 we would put the Cummins 4x4 front springs in it makes the truck set level with out the plow (instead of installing leveler kit) and carries the load much better. Nothing looks worst than seeing a Dodge 4x4 with the bumper as low as a RWD and it's a$$ in the air
Tranny cooler is a must. And with that,... EASY plowing!
Plowing will take out your trans Faster than most anything.
Just get 2500 Stock Ram springs for the front and you will
be good to go. (I've used this set up for years). A Boss plow
is great except for one thing,.. Your electrical connections,..
The main plug from the plow to the blade, and right down to
the smallest of in-line fuses. Make sure they stay dry. If
you can't, use Dio-electric (sp)? grease smothered on everything.
And try to wash everything off plow & truck after every use.
Single helper spring in the back is a good route also. Along with
2500 rear break resevoirs to help in your breaking. It's almost
like towing except it's all in the front. Plows are heavy stuff and
can beat up your truck pretty fast. With that,.. Hope it snows all
winter so you can make tons of money!!

Well thankx for your input, but would i be fine with a timbren suspension kit, and then that in line tranny cooler. and what were u saying about the boss plows, they have electrical problems, i think that they prob have improved this over the years, but adding dio electric grease would help
Yeah, that kit is nice for the money.
Plow wise,.. It's just the nature of the beast.
Salt & water all the time will mess with anything
over time. Don't get me wrong, Boss-plows are
great plows. Just that nothing is perfect. Water
and all the winter crap seems to work it's way
into everything. Just trying to give some tips
on keeping it great.
