Oil and Water
Alrighty took the truck out down some trails a week ago was doing fine, until I decided to take a puddle dubbed the "Liberty Hole" which I didn't know until my friend showed up 4 hours later to pull me out. (Lets just say f250s with 12in lifts cant make it through) So anyways hit it head on and immediately the engine cut and I had about a foot aof water in my cab, well long story short I got it out and it turned on just fine spewing all sorts of stuff from the exhaust and other places I didn't even know existed. As for the water and the engine I would say it came up to roughly the first to pipes on the headers(the air filter was dry so assumed it didn't get a chance to suck any thing up) Well I have a truck that has no power now and feels like it has a cylinder missing. I took it to my mechanic and he just looked it over and told me it was sucking in oil somewhere and that all the plugs where really wet(what that meant I m not sure) especially cylinder 7 and he suggested replacing the plugs. Got some cheap acdelcos and some fresh oil going to go see if it helps today, but do you guys have any suggestions I am so scared its gonna be something I am gonna have to get down to the cylinder heads for.....
Alright did an oil change came out grey sludge ran some cleaner through it and put new oil in it. I ve got a wonderful rattle news from the rear left of the motor(looking in at it) Now my mechanic said it sounded like lifter noise, (which are directly under the intake manifold correct?) He also said there is alot of air / blowback from the crankcase as in (I guess) the seals are bad on the cylinder heads? Any suggestions?
I get into that motor before it gets too cold and wet again! heh or tornadic for that matter
ram 1/2 ton 360, plenum, 180 tstat, cheap ebay headers, true dual dumps flowmasters, 4x4 4.88grs, assorted 35in tires, no ac!

Lifters and push rods are hollow and fill up with oil. If the oil is displaced by water, it'll clack until you can push all the water out of the system. "Grey oil" is water and oil mixed together and very bad for the engine. You might want to do another oil change in about 25 miles to see if you can get more water out.
Depending on the composite material the gaskets are made of, water could break them down significantly.

How could that happen? When the truck's running there will be positive pressure in the exhaust, keeping anything from coming in. With the engine off there is only ambient pressure (same as outside). Unless the truck was upside down!
If the header flange was under water, that's a different story.

If it's "sucking in oil" I don't think that's related to getting water in/on it. Were the plugs "wet" with oil?
And also! Upon reading the original post again, if you hit the water head on,and it died emmediatly, the intake for the air cleaner probably sucked a lot of water in. Especially since there was a foot of water in the cab. Plus the wave action from when you hit the water.
