When would you recommend shocks be replaced?

Thanks everyone,

I broke down and ordered Bilstein HD shock for my V6 1500. I never plan to abuse my truck or go offroad. My truck will be a road truck. I ordered the bilstein's based on name, reputation. Let you know if I notice an improvement.

I also made this purchase because my bill for my transmission service was very reasonable, just $85 (flush, new filter, band adjustment, new gasket, new pan ...maybe even new bolts). Real good surprise.

Haven't driven it much, but it seemed to shift better on the drive home from the shop.

anyword on how the truck drives now? also with ur stock shocks...when u hit a bump on a paved road did the truck kind of jump up and or kick out and sound/feel like the axle was hitting the frame? thats my issue and am interested to see how them bilsteins are.
