Default Windshield glass chip

Well today I was driving with the wife to go watch a movie and a fellow 3rd gen ram driver threw up a rock and put a small chip in the windshield.

It's about the size of a pea, but it's right in my line of sight so I can't very well ignore it (I dropped a big S-bomb when it hit).

I can't feel a missing piece from the inside or outside so what exactly can I do? Has anybody used those glass repair kits? do they work worth a darn? Will I need to call a glass repair company and see if they can fix it without an entire replacement. That's really going to eat into my modding money.

if you have "comprehensive" insurance coverage, many of the insurance companies will waive the deductible for a windshield repair, as it saves them a ton of money over replacement. if the ding is less than a dime/nickel size, its a good candidate for repair. they scrape out the loose stuff, attach a vacuum doo-dad, pull a vac, and pour in the epoxy. sometimes it works great, sometimes the windshield cracks. its worth a try, especially if they're paying.
