Default Potential Ram Owner. Go for it or run like hell?

I just got a second chance offer on ebay for a 1996 Ram 1500 5.9L Auto with 167K miles. Body and interior is good, very little rust. My question is am I buying myself into a whole lot of problems? The price is $2550. Should I take it or run?

How many miles? If the tranny has not be rebuilt/ replaced get ready for a rebuild. There are allot of options on the net.

i think $2550 for a 96 with a "little rust" might be a little high. potential expensive problems are transmission ($2000), front end stuff ($1000), cracked dash and heater core ($1000). consider whether you've got more money to throw at it if needed. if so - fine. if not, then be careful - a bad transmission will sideline you. I'd probably run but that's just me. 96 is kind of old especially for an american vehicle.

I've a '96 4x4 5.9 ext. cab.
It's got 267,200 miles on it and I've been thru
1 trans and 1 rear-end.
A host of other things along the way,..
ALL the different U-Joints, Ball-Joints,
Heater-Core, Evap-Core and, Brake-Lines,..
(ALL of them). And every thing that has to do
with the brakes! You better be careful!
Also, '96's have a few things that had been improved
later down the road with newer years.
Cup-Holders in the '96 are good ONLY for launching
things onto the floor! Sure wish I had the newer style
set-up! Rear-Half-Door that opens up,.. Wish I had THAT too!
Pain in the *** reaching back there without it.
2500 bucks is a good deal---IF--- everything is near perfect.

UP FOR AUCTION IS A 1996 DODGE RAM 1500 4X4 EXTENDED CAB. THE DODGE HAS THE 5.9 LITER ENGINE OR THE 360 CUBIC INCH ENGINE. THE DODGE RUNS VERY WELL BUT DOES HAVE A SMALL EXHAUST LEAK BY THE MOTOR. THE ENGINE IN THE DODGE IS PRETTY MUCH STOCK THERE ARE NO MODIFICATIONS DONE TO IT. THE INTERIOR IN THE DODGE IS OK IT HAS SOME SMALL TEARS IN THE DRIVER SEAT BUT HAS SEAT COVERS OVER BOTH FRONT SEATS. THE DODGE HAS A AFTER MARKET PIONEER CD PLAYER WITH A REMOTE IN IT. FOR THE MOST PART THE INTERIOR IN THE TRUCK IS IN GREAT SHAPE AND CLEAN NO OTHER PROBLEMS. THE BODY ON THE TRUCK IS IN GOOD SHAPE BUT DOES HAVE SOME SMALL DENTS ON THE BOX AND ONE SMALL RUST SPOT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE ROCKER, BUT OTHER THEN THAT THE PAINT AND BODY ON THE DODGE IS GREAT! THE RIMS ON THE DODGE ARE AFTER MARKET AMERICAN RACING RIMS THAT ARE IN GREAT SHAPE. THE TIRES ARE NOT VERY GOOD BUT I HAVE A SET OF TIRES THAT HAVE MORE THEN 75% LIFE LEFT ON THEM THAT GO WITH THE TRUCK. THERE IS A AFTER MARKET TRUCK TOOL BOX IN THE PICKUP AS WELL. THE DODGE HAS BEEN A GREAT RUNNING TRUCK FOR ME BUT I HAVE NOT HAD IT VERY LONG. I AM SELLING THE DODGE CAUSE I CANT TAKE IT WITH ME WHEN I MOVE. PLEASE SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY THANKS FOR LOOKING!!

Body type: Pickup truck Engine: 8 Cylinder 5.9 Liter Exterior color: Red
