air sensor question and exhaust
i am planning on cutting off my muffler. i have already started to cut it off, but then i had a thought about the air sensor and the mufflers back pressure. would cutting the muffler of and putting a new pipe in place of the muffler cause the air sensor to not read correctly due to the lack of back pressure and add more fuel to the engine mixture?
if you dont have any cats and you cut the muffler off, you wont have any backpressure. these motors need some to run properly. Air sensor has nothin to do with exhaust. Sure it will be loud and sound fun, but it will prolly run rich, and you wont pass emissions.
you should be fine.. I cut off the stock muffle and tail pipes about a foot behind the cat... then put a 2.5-3" fitting on and install a 3"in/out flowmaster original 40 and my truck runs and SOUNDS like a freakin champ!! btw.. contrary to popular belief.. the ladies love jacked up trucks! so.. chop it off chrome it out and jack it up! it's a dodge and they are the meanest badass trucks on the market!
