295/75/16 To Wide For Stock Rim?
Just got my new tires today they are 295/75/16 and recommend a rim of at least 8" are'nt stock dodge rims 16x7? Also will it technically safe to run this size trie on stock rims? Thanks
My attorney says I must answer "NO!
Really, it may not be safe under certain conditions. They probably just won't wear and handle as well as they should on the right wheels. They may "bow out" in the center, and wear the center of the tire faster. That also means poorer contact with the road, so... poorer braking, handling, etc. They MAY be fine. I'm not going to say go ahead and use them. They recommend that wheel size for a reason. I have used "oversize" tires myself, though. Used what I had when money was tight.
Why did you buy that size?
Here's a wheel that should fit nicely.

Then,
4th part number down the list. "93 on Dodge truck"
Backspacing should be perfect with that wheel. (I think)

The stock rims are more likely 16x6 and way too narrow, you will want 16x8. I have no idea what the back spacing on my rims are. I run 285/75/16 BFG All terrains and the truck is WAY nicer to drive with the proper width rims.
Craigslist...There's always some poor bastard on there trying to offload rims they couldn't afford anyway.

Craiglist is a great place to start but you run the risk of buy stolen rims.
I believe the stock Dodge rims are 16x7. To my knowledge, for our model years, there weren't any 16x6 rims.
Who cares if there stolen...If you didn't steal them and have no prior knowledge of them being stolen and pay a reasonable price for them then they can't get you for theft by receiving.
