Front Driver Side U-Joint
2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2L 4x4
First off is it hard to do? I have the chilson book and its a pretty good book. It doesnt really tell you in the book on how to do it though. The Noise will come and go I really hear it after I have used the 4x4. It's like a popping and scrapping noise. I'm pretty sure its coming from the U-Joint I only hear it when im turing. So can anyone please help with the steps?

welcome to df.
here you go. lots of good articles here.
if the axle nut comes off
and the bearing comes out of the hub,
then its a piece of cake.
otherwise it sucks.

edit. check your u-joint by putting the front up on jack stands. remove wheel and tire. everything out of gear. inspect and twist on the joint. any movement means its bad, as well as any damage to the grease seals. if you replace them, consider getting greasable. ALSO - DO EVERYTHING you can to be gentle and protect the oil seals at the differential end of the axle tubes. 99% of the people who replace their axle ujoints screw up their axle seals and end up having to tear it apart again, this includes most professional shops too.
