Default Identifying A Differential

Hello,
I need a little help in identifying the rear differential on my 1999 2500 Ram diesel. I believe it's either a Dana 60,70 or 80 but there is no number suggesting which model it is. There is a limited slip tag and the usual Dana information on the cover only. The front differential on this truck is marked 60F. I thought someone here could look at this photo and give my some idea what it is.

The 60 and 70 are almost identical in appearance. Any chance of getting the BOM number off the aluminum tag?

there should be three sets of numbers, the 8 digit axle assy number, the gear ratio, and the BOM number.

The BOM will tell us which it is.

If all else fails, pop the cover and measure the ring gear diameter.

check for a sticker in your glove box and see if it tells you.

Thankyou dillonjm and aim4squirrels for your replies. There is no sticker in the glove box, no informational tag on the unit except for the limited slip tag and no info in the purchase and order receipts. So dillonjm, since the 60 and 70 are nearly identical I might rule them out since the front Dana 60 is not similar to the rear.

Also, I just found an '80' on the forward side of the rear diff housing. Can I assume that it is an '80'?

Thanks Again, Much Appreciated!

I am trying to find 2500 CTD specs but coming up empty for you. Try the Cummins specific forum, I'm sure one of those guys could hit it right off the bat.

According to the dodgeram.org site, for 1996-2001...

Dodge Ram 2500 Heavy Duty with gas V8: Dana 60
Dodge Ram 2500 Heavy Duty with automatic transmission: Dana 70
Dodge Ram 2500 Heavy Duty with manual transmission: Dana 80

Thanks again aim4squirrels, I appreciate your suggestion and I will visit the Cummins specific forum as I have a lot to learn about these things. OK jason.w, that gives me more to go on as I do have a manual transmission so perhaps this thing is an '80'. I just want to make sure I get the right replacement gasket first time out.
I Appreciate Everyone's Help,
Many Thanks,
littlebuddie
