Default Problems..

A lot of progress has been made on my truck so far. This week, my dad and I are doing all the body work, and prepping it for paint. Well, I went to move my truck, so we could weld in the roll pan, and its just never that simple..

First, I went to start my truck, and forgot about the anti-theft system, hit the start, and went back. I started hearing a clicking noise coming from the dash. I'm not sure what that is. Oh well, so I hit the anti-theft button and started it up fine and the clicking went away. When I was done, and turned off the truck, the clicking was still there. It seems to go away when I turn the key to the Accessory position or the On position.

Conveniently, my stereo didn't wanna start up right. Apparently my ground wire fix I did last time either worked its way loose or it's not making proper contact. At this point, and the way the mounting looks, I'm seriously considering putting my old head unit back in (the stock one). The only difference in the 2 is the aux input on the Kenwood, and the Kenwood may putt out a few more watts per channel.

Since I didnt have any music to block out the lovely hum of the 318, I heard a trickling noise coming from the heater area around the glove box. It sounds like a leak, but I hope it isn't. As I revved the motor, the noise got louder, like more coolant was moving. When I turned the A/C higher, the noise went away, although the A/C noise could've been knocking out the trickling noise. Anyway, I popped the hood and checked the heater hose, and there was what looked like condensation on the heater hose down to where it feeds through the firewall. Im not sure if it is leaking through that fitting, because my dad did have to reopen the fitting, because when we were working on the motor and replacing hoses, we found that the fitting was partially smashed, so my dad took a pair of channel locks to open that hole back up for the hose. I'll have to look into that I guess. Maybe that noise is just normal, though.

And while I maneuvered my truck in front of the shop, I noticed my tires are still rubbing. The plastic inner fenders were off, so Im hoping like hell the tire didn't rub any of the new inner fender paint off, because I have yet to check. I already have 3/4" spacers for the coils. Do you think 3/4 Ton or 1 Ton coil springs will give me more lift in the front to clear the fenders when I turn?

Anyway, I'm gettin a bit frustrated. What do you guys think about all this?

k lots of questions first dont change your heater core until you see antifreeze dripping on the carpet or your windows fog up and wont unfog with defrost, you said that it has sat for a while it could be that your water has drained a bit from the lines and you here air and water flowing threw which would explain a bit your stereo is prob ground, also dont weld on your truck without disconecting the negative, it will fry everywire on your vehicle, not sure if you knew that so i thought i should tell you

Yea, I dont plan on replacing the heater core, unless its certain, which I doubt. Ill probably let it run sometime in the next few days for a good while.

Im thinkin about just going back to the stock head unit regardless, because imo the Kenwood is a piece.

Its all good about the negative anyway, since I disconnected it to get rid of the clicking noise (it was still clicking when I got out of my truck). Since it started when I jacked with the anti-theft, I think thats the source of the clicking, and I know the previous owner cut out the alarm and may have jacked with other parts of the anti-theft.

Thanks for the post.
