So i havent noticed this till recently..

when my truck accelerates say at 1/2 throttle my trans will shift from 1st to second at say...3500 rpm

2nd to 3rd at roughly the same rpm now heres the weird part....when I am doing about 60mph the rpms are around 3000 then it does what feels like a shift and the rpms drop to about 2100...O/D rite? no....cuz after that it'll shift again and the rpms drop to 1500....

what is this? could it be possible that I have a 5 speed automatic transmission? or is it a sign of failure? its really weird cuz that "shift" from 3000 to 2100 rpms feels like a nice smooth shift...plus when I press the O/D off button it does not shift down to 1500rpm at 60mph so that must be O/D....but the shift points feel different when O/D is off

It's probably the TC locking up. Sucks don't it? You have 3:55's too huh?

 

yeah i do and it does suck....i plan on putting 4.10s in soon. what exactly does that mean? the TC locking up? Im not very transmission savy
