when ever i make a left hand turn i get this horrible screeching noise, but only when i turn left. got any ideas as to what this could be. oh and i got a 99 Ram 1500 sport 5.2L
Does it do the same thing if you are parked and turn the wheel all the way to the left or to the right. if it does then have someone help you and have the hood open and see if it is the power steering pump. that is all I have for you good luck.
You have a ball joint that is dry due to not greasing them. Try greasing them and drive it awhile and see if it goes away. I had the same issue while I bought my ram I just changed mine out and the issue went away.
factory ones arnt that i know of. prolly gonna have to swap that ball joint out. make sure to get one that is greaseable. i try to do the same with u joints as well.
I have heard from some wheelers that greasable U joints are more prone to breaking as the grease zerk removes mass that would normally strengthen the joint.

This is both true and false. It depends on your application from my experiance. somthing that is more of a play toy than a daily driver that gets used and abused yes, the ungreasable joints are better because they can put up with more momentary stress, however long term stress like daily driveing is more of a strain on them though.
A greaseable joint while weaker in high stress situations like rock crawling or alike could come apart (but youd have to really thrash on it) but in daily driving with a constant stress the part will be more reliable than an ungreaseable joint.
At least thats my take on the issue, I could be wrong
Mine did that for a day or two. I jacked up my truck and looked at the wheel that was making the noise. Luckily i only have a capilar clip come out and it was rubbing against my wheel, hence the horrible noise. I took a hammer to it and now it doesn't make that noise anymore =]
