Default factory specs and options

A few months ago I purchased my first 1500. It has the off road package from the factory, but i am not exactly what that all means. i noticed it sits higher than most 1500's but what about the motor, tranny, and gears? what did they come with? it is also an automatic. as for another question, do high flow cats kill your gas milage?

Same motor as a standard 1500 (5.2 or 5.9), same tranny (46RE). There might be some minor other things I miss here, but the main things the off-road package gives you: 4.10 gears (as opposed to the standard 3.55 or 3.92), 17" off-road wheels (nicest stock rims I think I've ever seen, as opposed to 16" on standard 1500), trussed front axle (a tad stronger), approximately 1.5" or so increased ride height.

No. Mine didn't affect my mileage at all.

2 inch lift
heavy duty shocks
17 inch rims
275 tires
intigrated transmission cooler
power steering cooler
quicker ratio steering
trussed dana 44 front axle
4.10 gears
fog lights

I may have forgotten something ...

No high flow cats do not kill your gas milage. I have one and it was a good replacement for under $100.

I think you're right, its supposed to be technically 2 inches, but when people have measured it, it seems to come closer to 1.5. *shrug*

heavy duty shocks
I forgot about those, but they are still junk Chrysler shocks. I'd get new ones ASAP, depending on mileage.

Thanks, I forgot the exact tire size.

intigrated transmission cooler
I think by 2000 and 2001, most if not all Ram 1500s came with an integrated tranny cooler, but I could be wrong.
