Wheel Spacer Comments?
I just installed 285/75R16 BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A KO and I love then! But I do like the look of a tire sticking out past the fender a little. I was thinking of getting wheel spacers...nothing too large...just 1 inch or 2 inches no way on 3 inches but I was wanting the communities thoughts on this?
Useless mod? Stupid? Any INTELLIGENT reason not too? Like do I lose any 4x4 capabilities or useless wear on the truck? Please let me know, I love to see what you all think!

when changing the studs to longer... your load capacity and towing capacity might drop due to extra stress over such a long distance... the studs might be more likely to shear off... but i've never done this either
They make spacers that have their own studs. You factory studs are used to attach the spacer to the rotor, then the new studs attach the tires.
As with any setup that moves the tire out, you'll be putting more stress on the hubs, which could cause them to go out sooner then if left stock. Some say you also take away off-road capability because most of the aftermarket spacers are not very strong, and could break under extreme use conditions.

People do it all the time on off road rigs... But it will mess with your steering geometry. it will put more stress on the lugs and ball joints (extra leverage), and it will increase the scrub radius. Scrub radius is the distance between the contact point of the tire and the turning axis of the wheel. This basically makes it harder to turn, added wear to ball joints, additional stress to studs. Not worth it on a DD in my opinion.

I've always been told to get new rims with the proper backspacing. I ran 1/4" spacers on my 66 stang in the front so I could fit some 205's because I didn't do my measurements before I had them installed. Its hard to find a decent set of 4lug rims for a mustang so... I did what I had too. I had new studs put in, but honestly the best thing to do is get a set of rims that will work. The spacers silver was talking about are gonna cost you a good penny anyway, so mise well just do the right thing the first time and drop some money on rims. Thats just my personal opinion. I've heard some bad storys about spacers which is why I was hesitant when I ran mine. That being said I havent had an issue. On a truck, I don't know. I also had the studs welded in just in case.
