i understand if you want new rockers for peace mind.... ( if its just that one spot ) " I " would just fab up a little piece and weld, smooth it out and paint.....less cuting, less welding less places to break out later...... meanwhile if it a eye sore (quick fix) put alluminum tape over it and paint to match.

This may or may not be helpful to you, but when our Ford Windstar needed it's rocker panels replaced for an inspection, we turned to our bodyshop. They patched the whole in the rockerpanel with a new piece of metal, sanded down all of the rusty surfaces, and then applied their chipguard over all surfaces of the rocker panels. Now it's been treated and is protected.

For my truck, I had them sandblast the rocker panels as well, and then had them spray their chipguard down, and then paint it the color of the truck. A lot of bodyshops offer their own version of rhino liner and linex but for much cheaper, and cut you pretty nice deals on jobs like that. Just a suggesstion, I know going that route has worked well for any of our rockerpanel and lower panel issues.

For your own sake, just patch it. You'll be drilling spotwelds for a while, then you have to come back and spotweld it back in.
