Default swapping rear ends (limited slip)

My '01 came with a factory open diff. and i'm really missing my '95 limited slip. My question is, if i found limited slip diff's in a junkyard or salvaged off-road ram and swapped, would that change my gearing to 4.10? or should i just look harder for a 3.55 limited slip somewhere? my main concern is the rear, but if its cheap, might as well do the front too. I was looking for a cheap way to do this without buying new. Otherwise i'll just buy an autolocker if one is made for my axle. any info appreciated, thanks

Is your Ram a 4x4? If so, you'd need the gears from both axles to give you 4.10 gears. Otherwise you'd have one axle turning at 4.10 ratio and the other at 3.55. Thats bad.

I do miss the LSD from my 1995 Dakota a bit as well. Soon as I get a second job, hopefully I'll have some more $$$ and I can start spoiling myself a little more.

You can add the LSD but that has nothing to do with your gearing. You need to change the gears for that and if you have a 4wd you need to do front and rear gears. Myself if I wanted a LSD I'd go for the Auburn or Detroit as these factory ones aren't that reliable in the first place and a used one out of a junk yard if good when you pull it probably wont last long at all.

My factory LSD crapped out so I put a Auburn in there.
