The coolant smell through the vents may be your heater core.

Check the rear axle bearings and remove the rear end cover and inspect, replace grease. Check u-joints also.

If you have the Chrysler Corporate rear end w/limited slip its probably that. The little clips that hold the clutch packs back tend to break. (its a horible design) I replaced mine when i first bought the truck as well as doign the rear axel bearings. But the howl if its while you are moving only is probably that.

The fog and coolant as said above is your heater core. They are not fun to replace but if you want to take a stab at it i know there is a DIY on it. My dash is completely cracked from one side to the other so i just took a section out of the top to do it and put a dash mat on. (i cheated)

I had the same thing just happen to me, but I ignored the sound till I noticed the axel seals were leaking. After inspecting I knew for sure I needed new axel seals, but also found that the pinion seal was leaking. So I decided to just have all the bearings replaced in the back end. The shop charged $850 dollars to replace all the bearings, and all the seals in the rear end. Not too bad I figured since I had 180,000 on it at the time.

They showed me the parts and the bearings were starting to go, but not real bad yet. Anyway with all the weight I tow and haul it was a needed service.

What supprised me is they said the U-joints were good, they are still original.

Well if the rear seals are leaking the bearings are no good , not starting to go.

Take the rear drums off and see. Actually, when you raise the rear, before you remove the wheels and tires check the play much like you would check the front BJ's or bearings.
