I'm lookin at buying a diesel dodge ram 2500 cummins but whats betters and why?? The 24-Valve or the 12-Valve. What are some things to look for like mechanically wise??

one of those has a possibility of the dreaded "53" block thats prone to crack. everyone recommends checking the numbers on the block and avoiding that one at all costs.
