Default free flow exhaust

Ok I was told that I need a new Catalytic converter for my truck... In the future I wanted to put a free flow exhaust on it. Where can I get a cheap free flow exhaust or can I make my own any info would be great.

as far as the cat goes, it depends on the year of your truck, if it is pre 96 i believe you can just run a straight pipe or y-pipe otherwise you will need o2 sensors in the pipe. but in your case, i would recommend a magnaflow cat (bolts in stock location)and a flowmaster 40 series muffler (other muffler would be fine but i just like the flowmaster sound). this setup should be very free-flowing and you can do it yourself for around $300?

it appears to be a magnaflow high flow cat however, the one pictured would not work on our trucks because we need a dual inlet, single outlet.

Err I could be wrong and if wasn't dark out I'd just look under but I believe mine is single in single out. The headers then tubing then y-pipe and then cat...could be wrong...wouldn't be the first!

IF I am right out tubing is 2.5inch unless you modded it so this listing would be for us: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Magna...5266QQtcZphoto

Starting in the very late 90s, some Rams came from the factory with a y-pipe before the converter, going 3" si and 2.5" so. However, I have heard of some 1998s being that way, as previously I thought they started it in 1999 or 2000.

If that is the case, you'd buy the 3" si/3" so converter and use a reducer, unless you were doing a complete exhaust system in which case you can do whatever you want and don't have to use a reducer.
