Default Exhaust Q

Florida doesn't have emissions, so am I legally allowed to have a shop cut off my cat, and run true duals straight into mufflers?

I'm wondering if that would help out the problem I have with my "not going over 60" problem I have.

Also, I am not throwing any codes, but there is an obvious problem.

if you are asking if its legal to remove federally required emissions equipment, the answer is no, and the fine is something like $20,000.

you might find a shop that will nod and do it. most will say no. you can do it yourself, and if florida has no emissions inspection, then there is nobody to ever know. you can also gut out the substrate inside the cat, or replace the factory cat with an aftermarket version. there's a million posts about that.

Yeah I know the posts but I was curious as to how legal it'd be in Florida. Cops never go up under peoples vehicles that I've heard of, and I know some buddies that have no cat and you can just hear it. One got a DUI but no mention of his lack of a cat, LOL.

This slow acceleration-top end of 60 crap is annoying me.

It's NOT legal.

You probably will not have any problems in Florida, though. Keep in mind that emissions testing could be reinstated at some time.
