Default P0132 - o2 sensor 1 high voltage? Plz Help.

I have a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 2 wheel drive 318 V-8. I had a hard spark knock pulling small hills, then I changed the PCV valve (gummed all up), now the spark knock is way less than it was. But you can still hear it. It is slight. I am pulling a code P0132- high voltage in sensor 1, what does high voltage mean? is it a bad sensor? Also I occasionally get a multiple cylinder misfire, but not all the time. Also, over the past year, the cat has failed twice, and I think it is rattling again. Can some one offer me some advice. The truck just hit 130,000 miles, no mods. Has it reachd the end of its life? Time to sell? The paint is falling off too.

i just had the same code on my 99 Ram 1500. They found that the ground wire from the PCM to the Sensors was bad so they ran a ground to the body. Hope this helps

I encountered this problem as well. (98 1500 318) As I understand it, this code means that the reading from the O2 sensor was so far out of the normal range that the ECU doesn't think it is a possibly accurate reading. Therefore, the ECU thinks that the O2 sensor must be bad. If this is an accurate diagnosis, then the ECU has dropped back into 'default' mode in which it may be running the engine in a state of very rich fuel/air mixture. This could possibly contribute to the clogging of your cat. Take it to a certified technician and they can check the response of the O2 sensor. The ground is an absolutely possible cause, but I would sooner suspect the O2 sensor itself unless it has been replaced recently.

Hope this helps,

you most likely have a cracked head.sorry to tell you that year has aprobem w/valve seats.have a leak down test on all
the cyliders that are misfireing.w/that test you have the cylinders that are misfireing up to tdc then pump air in and see where it
leaks at,anything over 30% is bad!
good luck!

After the O2 Swap, I installed a new set of plugs, ran some 100 octane through it, now I am running on 93 octane, the misfire is gone, the spark knock is gone, and I hope the cat has survived all that extra fuel going through it when the O2 was bad, is there any way to tell?
