'96 2500 Issues?
Hello all,
I am seriously considering buying a '96 Dodge RAM 2500 SLT. I was wondering if there are any known issues with this truck of that year? What kind of gas mileage should I expect? The truck is an extended cab, 2 door with 2 wheel drive auto transmission. Power everything and an 8.0L V10 engine. The truck has almost 85,000 miles on it. Looks well maintained.
I would appreciate anybody's response and help.

Seriously, the only problems I've had with my 99 are transmission going out, power steering pump, and loose front end. Also, the spark plugs on the passenger side are difficult to get out if they don't have anti-sieze on the threads. They tow well. 9-11 mpg.
The V10's have a bad habit of breaking piston rings. The durability really isn't there when you work them hard. The auto transmissions suck ***. If you get it, replace the stock trans cooler with an aftermarket one, get the biggest you can.
Streamlined the sig. Tired of catching **** for the non-Dodges, and of people not realizing that I'm joking most of the time.
I bought the trailer new a year ago.
My 2500 with the 360 is rated at 8,800 GVWR. That was stock with an auto and 3.55 gears. With the 5-speed and the 4.10's that'll be installed soon, it's quite a bit higher than that in actuality, but I don't have the exact calculation for it anymore. I don't know what the V10 is rated for though.
