Default Ram purchase question

I plan on looking at a Ram 1500 tomorrow ( think its a 99 ) and I know that the truck sat for some length of time but the owner told me when he tried to start it there was a loud metal on metal noise from the engine and he shut it off. Someone told him it was the oil pump .. said it wasnt working.

Anyone have some input as to what I should look for or should I just forget about even bothering to go look at it. The price on it is about $1,700 and its a V6.

Thanks for any help someone may have....

Metal on metal AND a v6? 1700 aint worth the 360 swap you'd want (trust me) and who knows what that sound Really is.

Appreciate all the feedback.... kinda what I already thought the feedback would be said but since the price was so low its very tempting. I have been checking craigslist though most the trucks I found for not so cheap have been 180k+ miles, and I'm checking a few other places so I'll keep hunting....

Great forums here though so I think I'll stay a member and stick around a bit. Thanks again!
