Default Headers are on

Well I can finally say I have some headers in my truck now (they are in the front seat lol... jk) But really, Bluebeast2 came over and we installed them thurs nite / friday. Cylinder head bolts came out no problem. Three stud's came out when trying to remove the nuts. That leaves one stud left in the head that used a combination PB Blaster / Coka cola (don't ask) / Propane torch. It eventually gave after a few minutes of heat. Before we took the stud out we had to deal with the most PITA bolt of the bunch. The passenger side y-pipe bolt. Jinx took a grinder to the nut and took care of the problem. Began bolting things up which went fairly smooth. Used the stage 8 locking header bolts and the remflex gaskets. I still have some homework to do with a grinder to modify some of the locks, but ill wait for a little later in the week to do them. After re-assembling everything and double checking everything.... looks like im left with a "rattle-tick" when I hit around 1800 rpm's and up it sounds like all the clips start rattling, but I know that isn't the case because I took them off to see and it still rattles without them. Looks like the downtube didn't line up right or w/e. Im pretty sure the headers are mounted fine, .... just real disapointing I guess. Thought the hard part would be getting the old parts off, not the new parts on. Oh well, guess ill see what happens or looks like she will end up in a shop somewhere. So far she does seem to accelerate better in the upper rpm's, but didn't change the exhaust note too much. When you start her up she sounds the same.

I am jealous you all live so close to each other...I'm way over here in Oregon and am stuck doing it all myself...arrgg!

What kind of headers did you put on? short, long? Ive been wanting to replace my headers. Rusty pos they look to me. But I think I want to go long and true duals all the way back. Keep me posted.

It was the pasesetter ceramic coated shorty headers. In all honesty it took us too long. We probably started working around 11:00 PM or so thursday, and stayed up till 3 AM. In those four hours, we took our time in attempt to not break bolts. At the end of that work period, we had the drivers side manifold off, and all of the bolts out of the passenger side except one stud that stayed in after removing the nut (center stud), And the two down tube bolts on that side. Friday we spent a good part of the afternoon getting the down tube bolts out. One came out eventually, but the other met it's match with a grinder. The stud took a while to get out too. We ate lunch, We at dinner, and we ran to get parts a few times between his house and lowes. When you factor that in, it wasn't so bad I guess. We finished up friday night.

I don't have a vid camera, or a camera for that matter. I'll get one for you eventually. Maybe I can get bluebeast2 to take a vid tomorrow or something.

yup yup I'll take a vid. Suprised you didn't mention about me almost breaking my nose. Its still a little sore if I push on it. For those that want to hear the not so funny, funny story. I was laying under the truck and had 2, probably like foot long 1/2 in drive extentsions come stright back and slam me in the nose. Needless to say I made sure I held on tight to them the rest of the time.
