Lighter Fan
I searched around on here, but everything seems to be about electric fan upgrades. Has anyone ever looked into upgrading the factory fan to one of a lighter weight? I was just browsing my latest Jegs catalog and noticed some universal mount fan blades that are aluminum. Think it would be possible or help at all?
Just curious...

Waste of money! An electric fan will give you better results, but not all that much, to make any kind of a gigantic difference compared to the price of a complete install kit. Or if you rig one up yourself, the time it takes and the mods you need to do to get installed and then working properly is not gonna gain you much without other performance enhancing mods.
Aparently its a 15hp gain for the electric, but thats way out of my league. Still if you free up a few pony's with less spinning mass, and because of the blades compensating for how fast they are spinning.... I think it is an interesting idea! Let us know if you decide to do it.
It's not the weight of the fan that uses the power. The fan weighs nothing compared to the power of the crank. It is the wind resistance and drag created by the spinning blades that eat the power away.
But look at it on the bright side, it CANT fail. The fan will NEVER fail to cool the engine in this setup.
