Default Stupid question - Chking xmission fluid

I didn't get a manual with my truck-- do you check it in park or neutral? In park I show a high level, in neutral it's spot on.

Thanks

Yeah, mine says to check when "hot, idleing in neutral".

Yours doesn't say anything on the stick?

Thanks guys.

I didn't even look on the stick itself... I'll have to check it out.

Some have a cold and hot mark on the dipstick, but I think the Rams only have a hot...

When in park there is no cooler flow or lube flow. The PR valve just dumps all of the fluid that is being pumped right back into the pan so the dipstick will read high. When in neutral or any other gear cooler flow resumes as well as lube flow, now more fluid is being directed elsewhere, lowering the amount of fluid in the pan.
