Default Dash Pad?

I have been looking all over the internet for a replacement dash pad. I have a few questions about and maybe yall can help.

1. Do i just get a cover
2. Do i replace the "dash" with a new one
3. or can i just put a new over the one in place and not worry about it.

The dash is cracking and I am tried to weigh the options.

Thanks
Zach

Curious, where's your dash cracking at? Mine has recently cracked by the window vent on the drivers side (basically center of the cluster) and has cracked both down towards the window, and all the way upward to the top where it meets the trim on the cluster.

We looked into getting it professionally JB welded, but the guy told us not to bother. Which is what I had said to begin with! My Step dad is super perticuliar, and refuses to let the crack remain. He's thinking of just ordering an entire new dash for it just because of the one crack!

If you find good prices or good alternitaves, you should post about them! I'll do the same!

Mine was cracked from one side to the other and then two big pieces fell out. I looked into getting a complete dash top. I found a couple of sites online that sell a molded piece but the carpet was cheaper. If you want a new dash try a wrecking yard. The yards in my area just didn't have any at the time I was looking. Try 'googling' dodge dash and see what pops up. I found a couple of sites but I must not be setting the links right as I can not get them to work.

LMC truck sells the cap that is molded exactly like the dash and just adheres to it to look stock...

To me, those are tacky because they merely mask a problem that is going to get worse over time. I've been toying with making a new dash top for my 97 using fiberglass as it has developed a few cracks since I replaced the heater core last year.

I've seen them before, and if done right, you can't even tell that it's there...unless you know to look for it. They come with a good epoxy that you smear over the cracked dash before placing it on there...when it dries, the problem is eliminated, since the bond between the two keeps the old dash from cracking anymore. Personally, I would just buy one of those carpet ones...no more shining to worry about.

P.S. - If you do make a fiberglass dash, be sure to post it...that would be a sweet mod...
