Default Exhaust?

I have a 2001 Ram 1500, 318, 5 spd, 4x4, ext cab 4 dr, 6.5 ft bed with cap. 3.55 rear end. Looks like I have to replace entire exhaust from header (not included) to tail pipe. Was wanting opinions on good, cheap stock replacement parts for Cat. convert. and muffler. I want quiet, and yes cheap, but reliable and durable. Any advice greatly appreciated.

what does it being a hunting truck have to do with it having to be quiet?

My truck is a hunting truck also...super44 flowmaster, K&N round 14x3 filter (hissing noise) and soon Im gonna gut or replace the cat.

I hunted with it this way this year...saw the critters all around me

Unless you are a road hunter the noise won't matter for hunting, at least its that way in the NW.

i'd take it to a couple of local muffler shops and get estimates. they can buy big stock mufflers cheaper than dirt, also they will custom bend pipes and avoid spare tire, trailer hitch, tranny, etc, and weld it all up. i'll bet you'll get it all done cheaper than you can even buy the parts.

I'm a little lost on that too. Unless your running the deer down with your truck what does sound matter. Your probably spend about the same on a stock setup as you would for an aftermarket

Default answer to why so quiet

I can't get to our lease daily or even weekly. Thus, a quieter truck will give me less chance of spooking deer, and greater chance of seeing the big one. This is the reasoning behind the electric UTVs as well.

I dont get it. I could understand a quiet muffler if you were shooting the deer from the cab of your truck, but I also hear that that is common practice in Arkanas.
Deer are creatures that are facinated by sound I live in the sticks and I have had more deer jump out in front of my truck after i put my exhaust on rather than when I had my stock pipes on. I guess the sound and glimmer attracts them.
