Default Need to Vent

...before I explode. A few weeks back I just put a new motor in the truck. To make sure it is covered by a warranty, it also required a few other new items. Don't even care to list them out but, it was not cheap at all!! Last week, had a day off and took the mutt over to a park to run around. Got in, the fuel pump wouldn't turn on. Checked everything I could sitting in a pullout by a park miles from home. Nothing that I could find. Called to get a rid and while waiting, it started. But then in D it stalled out. I could get it started again but would keep stalling unless I was heavy on the gas. Then, stalled and wouldn't restart. Called to get a tow. While waiting, tried it again and it started and never stalled. So, saving the tow, I drove it about 8 miles to a shop I use and a block away it stalls doing 40. I got it pulled to the shop.
They say it threw 10 codes and needs a new computer. Fine. They say they can get one from a place in Alabama that puts their own burn on them and all new components on the board. This 'special' one will feel a lot better than a 'stocker'. $800. Fine. Whatever. Pissed. They put it in, drive it, throws a tranny code. They source it. The new computer has Dodge's updates and is looking for a temp sensor on the tranny cooler line. Mine is an early 95 with the stock computer so never had the sensor so never had a problem. New computer, new update, has to have one, now, need a new line with the sensor and connector. As you know, the lines ain't cheap. F!!!!!!!! F!F!F!F! I so want to throw a chair threw my living room window right now.

wow, thought i hated my truck. But honestly, the whole PCM upgrade sounds like the shop inadvertantly F'd up and you ate the bill on it.

hope it runs great afterwards. Hey, you could always read 01DodgeRam360's posts to make you feel better.

Shop should bite the cost of that new line. Tell them your not paying for it. It's not your fault that the computer they suggested requires other modification. See if they bite. Heck, see if they will bite more cost since the PCM was working fine when you brought it in right? That one is a stretch, but see if you can work some magic.

It wasn't working fine when I had it dragged in. Also, any decent replacement ECM will have the newest Dodge updates which look for that tranny temp sensor. With the economy like this, these big expenses suck. The new engine after it was put in felt better than the stock one with 186000 miles on it but, it didn't feel as strong as I thought it would. It still felt sluggish. So, I guess, maybe, if the puter was not running right, it could be what was causing it to feel sluggish. Which also, could mean that I didn't need a new motor just yet. But, I was getting worried that my old motor would grenade on me going up a pass.

LOL, how much money do I have in? LOL I've said for a long time, I'm buying a new truck one part at a time. Hmm, at this point, all I need is a new t-case, steering linkage and pump, and axles. I think pretty much everything else has been replaced or rebuilt.
