on my 01 there was 1 bolt and 1 nut on a stud. i can't remember whether the stud was on top or bottom. they came off from the front. make sure you took the right ones off. mine came off w/o any trouble. if you're sure its loose, give it a tap with a soft hammer.

on my 01 stud on the bottom bolt on top. Took that plug off and it came right out with no problem. Took the power wire off after I got it out where I could hold it

same here. i was unable to get the wires on/off while it was bolted up to the truck.
so when i removed it i unbolted it and layed it on my chest, then removed the wires. putting it in was the reverse.

double check why you've got 3 bolts. you may have something wrong. after that smack it around some.

i dont think the last bolt i took out had anything to do with it. I had the bolt on top and the nut on bottom but when it wouldnt come off i saw the other one and took it off cause i couldnt figue out what else to do.
