Default lug spacing

ok my dad might be getting me a new set of rims for my truck, still 16 inch but they are nice, but what is the spacing on the rims, like the distance on the patern?

I thought as long as it was a 1500 they would fit a 1500. As goes a 2500 fits a 2500. I could be wrong. Maybe its a good thing I haven't bought rims
