Default 16x8s W/Zero Offset & 315s

Ok I'll try this again since last time I didn't get any responses and I now have more info....

I have a 98 Ram Sport with a 2.5" spacer up front. Fender height is 40.5" up front and 41" in the rear measured at the cneter of the wheel. The truck currently has stock steel 16s and blad 285s. I'm looking at a set of 16x8s with a zero offset. So the wheels would have a 4" backspacing correct??? I'm also looking at a set of nitto terra grapplers in 315/75s so they will be about a 34.6" tall tire. I'd like to find something like a 34" tire but I think I'll be happier with a tire closer to a 35. And I'm planning gears in the summer too so please no flaming there.

But overall do you think it would be a good setup that won't rub too much if at all? Also would these wheels stick out too far or just a little more than stock?

Thanks alot in advance

I think a stock offset is 0/stock backspace is 4.5", if I remember correctly. 315/75's will put you at 12.4" wide...I would not go that wide on a 16x8. I recommend you get a 16x10...just my opinion. I have heard that you can run 35's with a 3" lift and the right backspacing, but I don't know about with a 2.5" spacer. You will probably have some rubbing. Ask them what the backspacing is...if it is 4", it should stick out .5" more than stock with a 0 offset.

I think I seen on ebay listings for the leveling kits that you can run 35's. I'm guessing thats what you mean by the 2.5 spacer. I just looked on ebay and one auction says you can run 35's with no rubbing another one says 33's on a 1/2 ton and 35's on a 3/4. I think you'd be ok if anything it might rub just a little. I don't have a kit or that big of tires so don't hold me to it.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the answers and am not trying to sound like I'm disagreeing in anyway. Its just my experience that nitto tires run a little narrow, but that was with car tires so the truck tires may be different.

I looked at a few different sets of 16x10s and I think I'll go that route since it does seem like a wide tire to run on an 8" wheel. And I found 16x10 procomp wheels for around $450 shipped so I can't go wrong there, just have to get a little more funds and then I'll really change the look of this truck

Thanks again guys and I'll be sure to let you know how everything works out

I use an 8" wheel with my 35s and it's fine. It will be a little bit wider outside the wheel well but nothing all that much.
And personally, I would NOT recommend those tires. I got a set last year to run as my winter tires. I got them at a good price and wanted to try something different and everyone seems to have them. I figured I couldn't go wrong. Those tires, in my opinion, are absolutely horrible. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with them for a while since I don't put too many winter miles on. They suck. Pick a different tire.

Sorry, but there is no way the stock backspacing is 4.5. It is closer to 5.5. My 17" offroad rims have a backspacing of 5.25, and they stick out more then the 16" stockers I had on before them.

I really don't know...I was just going on what someone on here said. I've never actually measured it. If anyone wants to measure it, I would like to know for sure. Sounds like a job for someone else, though...too rainy and cold for me.

Yeah I'd like to know as well since I have found a few good deals on procomp wheels in 16x8s in a 6" backspacing
